Chilling out at Hotel SO

Last week saw the launch of the 2009 Chill Winter Adventures magazine. Packed to the rafters with ski and snowboarding information, it’s a handy source to help you decide which Canterbury club fields to hit this season; and what to do once you get there.

As proud sponsors of the magazine, Hotel SO were happy to host the launch party, in their very own What Bar; an ideal location for such an event, with its trendy lights, contemporary seating and endearing drinks list.

Stepping in from the chill outside (pun not intended!) into the warm buzz of Hotel SO, we were handed our name badges and one of the hotels infamous cocktails; a mixture of vodka, cranberry and fresh mint leaves - an essential accessory for all drinks parties!

As we made our way through the crowd, reading names tags and chatting to fellow industry workers, it became obvious how eager everyone was about the forthcoming ski season. With snow already falling on the mountains and early bird season passes flying off the shelves, excitement levels are certainly peaking. Just shy of two months away and with ten ski fields within its parameter, Christchurch is clearly once again, gearing up to a busy season.

Reservedly placing my cocktail (and my free bar of Richfields dark chocolate) on a nearby table, I flicked through my copy of Chill, to find information on the Canterbury ski fields, a list of events, tips for getting fit for the season, beginner advice and some accommodation and activity options.
