Avalanche Danger remains high around Wanaka and Queenstown due to high winds and heavy snow fall. Treble Cone has been very vigilant with their avalanche control in all of their in-bounds terrain and has kept the backcountry closed due to the high danger.

Treble Cone opens

Treble Cone Ski Area opened on 27 June for its 2009 season. Wanaka was as busy from 7am as locals and those hailing from afar scrambled to get coffees, skis, snowboards and friends packed into their vehicles.

New shuttle service on Treble Cone mountain road
